The Big Green Sorry is a grassroots movement of ordinary citizens taking collective responsibility for the environmental damage caused by unchecked consumerism and industrial excess. We acknowledge that we accepted the comforts of the status quo without questioning the cost to our planet, and we are no longer willing to remain silent.
While industry, finance, housing developers, banks, retailers, and manufacturers have failed to apologise for their role, we – the consumers – are choosing to say SORRY.
But this is not where it ends. The Big Green Sorry is our turning point – a declaration of personal and shared commitment to change. We believe in a future where our actions match our words, and where apology is the beginning of transformation.
β 7-Point Action Plan for Individuals: Living the Green Sorry
1. Consume Less, Choose Wisely
Reduce unnecessary purchases. Prioritise local, ethical, second-hand, or low-impact products.
2. Travel with Care
Walk, cycle, share, or take public transport whenever possible. Cut down on air travel and offset emissions when you can’t avoid it.
3. Eat for the Planet
Shift towards a plant-based diet, support local growers, reduce food waste, and compost food scraps.
4. Switch to Green Energy
Choose renewable energy providers. Where possible, invest in solar or community power projects.
5. Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (in that order)
Avoid single-use plastics and over-packaged goods. Reuse what you have before buying new.
6. Speak Up, Share, Influence
Talk about climate action. Share your journey. Influence family, friends, and workplaces through example.
7. Reconnect with Nature
Volunteer in nature conservation. Support rewilding or tree-planting schemes. Value green space.
